Plug-in Hybrid Electric Bus use batteries to power an electric motor, as well as another fuel, such as gasoline or diesel, to power an internal combustion engine or other propulsion source. PHEVs can charge their batteries through charging equipment and regenerative braking.
The Plug-in Hybrid Electric Bus (PHEB) serves as a transitional solution in the global shift toward fully electrified public transportation. Unlike conventional diesel buses, PHEBs can operate in pure electric mode for a certain range while using an internal combustion engine for extended mileage. This flexibility makes them ideal for regions with limited charging infrastructure or long-distance transit routes.
